Online events to keep connected to parents and students

Helping the next generation get off to the best start at Schools and Sixth Forms
How do you keep parents engaged in a world where Open Mornings and Coffee Mornings are off the table. The schools we’ve been speaking with have been getting creative!
Below are some of their top tips for online events that your parents and students could access remotely.
What types of events could you run at this time?
1. A podcast with the Head Girl or Boy:
Record a video of your Head Girl or Boy discussing life at School and how they felt on their first day. What were they worried or excited about? How did that compare to reality? Make your incoming students feel confident and relaxed ahead of September. (Set up a YouTube channel if you haven’t already).
2. Virtual Tours: could one of your pupils whose parent is a key worker take a video around your campus to use as a virtual tour of the school?
3. Meet the Headteacher on Zoom/Google Hangouts: offer the opportunity for parents to meet your Headteacher via an online speech. Welcome new parents and answer any questions they may have. Why not send a survey first via Admissions+ so that the Head can respond to any questions in advance?
5. Run a Quiz Night: could you run an online quiz night? Use Houseparty or Zoom to get your students together. Start with a couple of ice breakers or games. e.g. what fruit would you be if you were a fruit? Then crack into the quiz! Have fun!
5. Record a Science Experiment: leverage skeleton staff to record a science experiment and then post it online.
Let us know how you get on! If you have any other ideas please let us know in the comments area below.
Take care.
Stay blessed and well!
