Online Dating Should Be Non-Profit

For the people I've personally matched, part of the tragedy is that 50% are married (and I'm not a home wrecker), and almost 100% are potentially and most likely insane. Why so much profit and very little success? Where are the nice guys that are not insane and not married and who like people that put egg yolks in their hair? Is that too much to ask?
Should the search for love have a price tag?
With the growth of online dating comes a sizable profit for online dating sites. With so much money and profit flowing through these sites, you'd think their primary mission of being match-makers would be successful.?
The demand for online dating has risen significantly for various reasons—the main reason being the pandemic, COVID-19. Influencing social distancing and making it impossible to leave your house; that's where online dating comes into play.
Studies show that only 17% of online daters have ended in a long-term relationship after meeting online. When the global pandemic began in March 2020, Dating.com reported that dating site visits were up 82 percent. The popular dating app, Bumble, saw a 26 percent increase in direct messages sent through its platform. Similarly, the elite dating app, Inner Circle, saw a 116 percent rise in messages sent.1
Would it be better for the consumer and for the provider to have dating sites as non-profits - to do the greater good? The idea would be that the dating site would truly match! I say "no" when faced with whether love should have a price tag. However, online dating sites are more interested in profit rather than their primary mission, match-making. With a non-profit organization, the options and potential would be limitless.?

2 年Great idea! I read that apps optimize for swipes, not matches... which is against the goal of their customers. Non-profit FTW!
