Step 7 of the SORA methodology: Final specific assurance and integrity level (SAIL) and operational safety objectives (OSO) assignment

The SORA methodology strengthens operational safety at every stage for organisations aiming to implement airborne operations.

Step seven of the SORA involves defining an organisation’s safety assurance and integrity level (SAIL), which provides a collection of operational safety objectives (OSOs) to adhere to.

Each operational safety objective receives a robustness level matching the intricacy and hazard associated with the organisation's intended operation.

This article explains the significance of safety assurance and integrity levels as outlined in Annexe E of the Joint Authorities for Rulemaking on Unmanned Systems (JARUS) SORA documentation and examines each OSO by illustrating how to interpret them and what their practical implications are.

Topics in this interview include:

  • How big is the drone winch market?
