Online Career Fair, because Covid-19 ain’t an excuse!

With more than a third of the planet's population under lockdown, it’s more than clear that the labor market is affected in several fields. However, some tech-startups seem relatively immune to this and other startups are trying to pivot and take advantage of this COVID-19 crisis.
On the other hand, students and job seekers are trying more than ever to secure a remote internship or remote job whether due to financial problems, university credits, or even as a better way to deal with the situation.
That’s why we are introducing for the first time in Tunisia, the Online Career Fair. Throughout this online event, we are trying to match job/internships seekers with different tech-startups.
What to expect?
The event is happening daily from 27 April 2020 until the 1st May. The first 4 days are mainly for interviews with all the startups. During those interviews, entrepreneurs will be talking about their venture and available positions. They will be also accepting real-time questions.
The final day which is the 1st May will be the speed dating for recruiting day. Job/internship seekers will need to connect on the FabSkill platform to start the process of the five minutes interview. In addition, panels and talks will be taking place to speak about employment, remote working, soft skills importance… In fact, it’s our way to celebrate the Tunisian Labor Day!
Communities collaborating for the first time!
There is no doubt that such an event could never take place without the collaboration of different communities. Actually, it’s for the first time that all those communities are trying to work hand-to-hand on the same initiative. Those communities are:
FabSkill: a tech-startup offering an innovative recruitment process based on artificial intelligence, video interview, and collaborative rating of candidates.
Google Developer Group Carthage: is a local community-based community working on developing and learning about Android and other exciting Google related technologies such as Flutter, Machine Learning, and IoT.
Developer Student Clubs – South Mediterranean University: is a university-based community group for students interested in Google developer technologies. DSC helps grow their knowledge in a peer-to-peer learning environment and build solutions for local businesses and their community.
Open Startup Tunisia: is a Startup Competition in partnership with Columbia Engineering and Business School to support Tunisian youth eager to open up to the world and thrive. It brings together students from different disciplines, across universities and regions and boosts their innovation and teamwork skills to solve global problems.
Facebook Developer Circle Tunis: is a community-driven program that's free to join and open to any developer. It’s a forum to share knowledge, collaborate, build new ideas, and learn about the latest technologies from Facebook and other industry leaders.
The online career fair, which is inspired by these moments of crisis, is another attempt to pave the way toward the success of the digital transition in Tunisia. We hope that, by this initiative, we can boost the Tunisian ecosystem and help it grow towards a more decentralized platform.
