Ongoing Missile Attack on Israel

Just a few hours ago I was enjoying my daily swim in the beautiful blue sea. Granted things were strange in Tel Aviv. There were Israel Border Police with M-16 rifles everywhere today. Including right next to the beachgoing tourists, which is unusual.

A little while after I got back home we started hearing the big booms in the sky and went into the bomb shelters until things settled down.

Why Our Enemies Rise Up

It’s a scientific fact. When we’re busy with internal fighting and division, they start coming at us from all sides - and in broad daylight. It’s not only with our neighbors, but the whole world.?

When we’re busy with internal fighting and division, they start coming at us from all sides - and in broad daylight. It’s not only with our neighbors, but the whole world.?

At a time like this our hearts are with all our young soldiers and security professionals who are willing to give their lives for the country. It’s a very stressful time for mothers of soldiers on the front lines - we’re all praying they come back safely.

We don’t want to harm anyone, but when someone comes to harm us we protect ourselves with everything we’ve got. That’s always the first way to deal with these things. Then we hope and pray that it will be all over soon with the least amount of damage. And this is happening on both sides - ours and our neighbors'. When we begin correcting the relations among ourselves here in Israel, along the way we’ll also fix things with them.?

But if we try to look at the situation objectively, we'll see all the drama from the past six months in a different light. In a time of danger - and it’s coming from all sides now - from Gaza, Jerusalem, Lebanon; there’s even a new threat from Jenin/Afula further up North - we’re literally being bombarded and threatened from all sides - it’s a good time to think about our personal perspective on life.

Everyone needs to do their own soul searching at a time like this when the only home we have is in danger.

Everyone needs to do their own soul searching at a time like this when the only home we have is in danger. We really need to think about if all the division and clashing is worth it. Please don't think I'm taking advantage of today’s events to try to teach everyone a lesson - just the opposite. But I do want to say this. If our boys are sacrificing themselves for our country - at least let it not be in vain. Let this be a real wake up call for us to rethink everything we’ve been through, so that we can move forward with some new insight - and with new regard for the people around us.?

At a time like this we really see how we set up our priorities in life. When serious things like this happen everything else is swept aside. People are running in the streets - shouting and cursing. In a single moment - after a month of escalation - suddenly the whole country turned into one huge war zone.?And it was scary.

So I’m asking you all to do some serious soul searching with yourself about our priorities. As citizens of Israel we actually don’t have that many. We need to find the bridge we can cross together. Until then, we’ll all keep praying for everyone. No one really wants to hurt anyone, but if they have to let’s hope they do it swiftly. I’m praying that all our soldiers come back in one piece so we can finally open a new leaf together.

It's unfortunate that this is the only way to get our attention. So once again - let's learn our lesson and move forward.
