#OneLove

Monday 20th February 2017, StrokeInformation is proud to promote OneLove AKA TBIONELOVE.org set up by James who had a traumatic brain injury and 2 years after his accident he had a CT scan and discovered a heart shaped image in the scan and because of this wanted to share the one love and it got me thinking!! Most of us Stroke survivors wish to share our experiences with others, this enables us to learn from each other and develop best practices and how to cope guides not only for us survivors but also family members so that they can try and understand how we feel, what mood we are in and whatever the condition it is so so powerful to talk and learn from each others experiences as there is no better recommendation than that of someone who has gone through it before you. After a truly empowering and inspiring meeting where we hope to secure further opportunities to fundraise it got me thinking again (I know twice in one day) and I wanted to call in on some old friends at a group that I used to attend and I wasn't going to cause any conflict of interest or to obtain any data which could suggest breach of data protection merely to say that at the end of the day the goal was / is to spread the awareness of what its like to others but NO the person I was talking to was so so blinkered by what some could call a cult, i.e. its their way or no other way and when I returned home I called upon one of my Stroke Hero's Kate Allatt to see what she thought about it and quite rightly she pointed out a slogan which was very similar to one I have used before with StrokeInformation reaching out to the forgotten voices in society and it summed the social stigma of the condition, many forget the last survivor and move on to the next one and this is something that we MUST STOP, we ALL have a VOICE, we have FEELINGS, we ALL need SUPPORT, FRIENDSHIP, a sense of PURPOSE and WE ALL WANT A SENSE OF BELONGING, so if you are reading this and thinking YES, I want to belong, I want to be appreciated and I want to be understood then please please remember you ARE NOT ALONE !!!
