Nowadays, it has become a common practice among individuals and businesses to create multiple cloud accounts. Keeping copies of the same files on multiple cloud platforms is an increasingly popular backup strategy. There are also times when businesses decide to switch from one cloud service to another. Because OneDrive for Business and pCloud are different platforms, they do not provide an easy way to transfer your files. In this tutorial, we will learn about simple ways to transfer some or all of your files from OneDrive for Business and pCloud. Let’s begin.

Why Do Some Businesses Switch From OneDrive for Business to pCloud?

Here are some reasons why businesses are moving from OneDrive Business to pCloud:

  • Client-side Encryption: pCloud automatically encrypts user’s files on the user’s device even before it is uploaded to the pCloud server. In contrast, OneDrive uploads user data on OneDrive servers.
  • Extended version history: pCloud keeps older versions of your files for a period of 180 days. In contrast, OneDrive for Business keeps them for only 30 days.
  • Streaming: pCloud supports cloud-based media streaming. You can stream audio and video files from your cloud account without downloading them. OneDrive for Business does not support the streaming functionality.
  • Expiration Date: pCloud users can set expiry date while sharing files and password protect them. Even though OneDrive for Business also offers this feature, it doesn’t support advanced customizations like pCloud.
  • No file size limit: There is no maximum file size limit for pCloud. In contrast, OneDrive for Business has a 250 GB maximum file size limit. Nevertheless, it’s sufficient for most small and medium businesses.

Moving Files From OneDrive Business to pCloud

There are multiple ways to move your files.

Method 1: Manual Method

If you're looking for a simple and straightforward solution, here's it is:

Steps

  1. Open your web browser and sign in to your OneDrive for Business account.
  2. Go to the folder that contains the files you want to transfer.
  3. Select your files and then click on the Download icon.
  4. Your files will be compressed into a single zip archive and downloaded to your PC.
  5. Extract the files from your zip archive to a temporary folder such as ..\Desktop\Extracted.
  6. File extraction may take some time depending on the size of your archive.
  7. Sign in to pCloud in another tab.
  8. Go to the destination folder where you want to transfer your files.
  9. Click on the Upload icon.
  10. Select the extracted files and then click on the Upload icon.

  • You don't need to pay anything.
  • You can transfer an unlimited number of files.
  • You don't share data with third party services. Your privacy is protected.

Drawbacks

  • This method requires you to download your files and sync them with your pCloud account. It is extremely time consuming.
  • Every time you want to transfer new files, you will need to manually download and sync your files.
  • If you're trying to transfer a lot of files, you wouldn't want to miss out on some important files. You'll need to be careful while transferring files to prevent unwanted data loss.
  • You'll need to sit back and monitor the file transfer process yourself.

Method 2: Using Easy Cloud Manager (FREE Plan)

ECM is a web app that lets you automatically move a large bunch of files from one cloud account to another.

Step 1: Add Your Cloud Accounts

  1. Visit the Easy Cloud Manager website and create a new account with a free plan.
  2. Click on Home > Add New Drives.

  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to add your account.

Step 2: Define Source & Target And Start Transfer
