One Year of Spotlighting African Real Estate

Today makes it exactly one year since we began this journey.?

Our mission was simple - Demystify the real estate industry in Africa, one RealTake article at a time.?

Our strategy - an article a week keeps the ignorance away!

We took baby steps: Some weeks we showed up. Some weeks we didn't. Some months we struggled. Other months we simply did nothing!?

But here we are today, 31 editions wiser - all thanks to you.?

This is to express gratitude to you for sticking with us till date. We appreciate your patience through it all.

The real estate industry in Africa is one we are so passionate about. So we are building a “Megaphone” to sound the message.

We are leading a movement - helping more see the opportunities that exist in the African real estate market, and guiding them to make informed investment decisions.

We are building a community of individuals and organisations with a shared belief who would keep the movement going.?

Our Journey So Far

In retrospect, 2023 was a year of growth!?

Beginning with our first edition of the RealTake newsletter, our focus was clear: helping intending real estate investors in Africa understand what they are putting their hard-earned resources into.?

We understand that for many, an investment in real estate is the single largest investment they would make. With this newsletter, we demystify real estate as an investment vehicle, helping more afrocentric individuals make informed investment decisions.

To help us refine our value proposition, we further enrolled in various learning and development endeavors. Some notable ones include:?

Kaiser Foundation for Social Development (KFSD) Entrepreneurship Training?

A one-year apprenticeship program with an indigenous? construction company - Construction Kaiser Limited (CKL) - geared at learning how to build a sustainable business and putting structures in place.?

It began with a week of paradigm shift and intense learning at Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University and ended on June 15 2023 with a business presentation to the company executives and other key guests - same date as CKL’s 30th anniversary.

The 7th Edition of Idea Hub by Lagos Innovates, Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF)

An 8-week incubator program that included? masterclasses, expert hand holding and one-on-one coaching with seasoned entrepreneurs. openhouse was amongst the 28 startups selected out of the 115 that applied - and we made it to the top 8 finalists to pitch at the demo day at 微软 Lagos Office on July 27, 2023.

Just recently, our founder, Peace Adetutu Ezeafulukwe was invited to a radio station in Lagos, Nigeria, Wazobia FM to share our story and the impact this training had on the business.

The Startup Pitch for French Week 2023

On Tuesday, November 21, 2023, we made history!

The occasion was the startup pitch tournament - an exclusive platform organized by the Franco-Nigerian Chamber of Commerce & Industry for their startup members to showcase their vision.?

We are pleased to announce that openhouse was chosen among the top ten finalists amidst numerous applications.

It was an opportunity to share our vision with an esteemed audience and panel of judges consisting of industry experts.?

And we won the second position!

Our accomplishments in 2023 serve as a proof that the work we are doing, demystifying real estate investment in Africa is truly making a difference.

And thanks to you, dear intelligent investors, we are not stopping any soon. 2023 has given us the much needed momentum to do more this 2024.

It's a leap year and we are taking the leap.?
