One Year with ChatGPT: A Math Teacher's Perspective #ChatGPT #EdTech #Teaching

It's hard to believe it's been a year since I started using ChatGPT in my classroom, and it has been a game-changer! I can confidently say they're getting another year from me.

ChatGPT has saved me countless hours. It takes care of all those tedious tasks that need doing but don't require a ton of brainpower. Think organizing files in Google Drive. I also love that I have something to help me generate and develop my ideas for activities that I would like to create for my class. This frees me up to focus on what truly matters - my students!

Here are some of the amazing ways ChatGPT has boosted my practice:

  • Problem Powerhouse: Need engaging practice problems that align with specific standards? ChatGPT whips them up in seconds! Sample Prompt: Create 4 questions similar too *insert question*
  • Differentiation Done Easy: Simple prompts help me generate leveled questions from basic to complex, ensuring all students are challenged appropriately. Sample Prompt: Create 4 questions from DOK1 to DOK2 to help my Precalculus students practice solving Trigonometric equations.
  • Rubric Revolution: Explaining my learning goals and assessment criteria to ChatGPT lets it craft fantastic mastery-based rubrics.

My focus has been on how ChatGPT can empower teachers, not students (there's a lot to consider there!). There's definitely room for exploration, and I'm excited to share more about how ChatGPT has transformed my teaching and what the future holds!

Let's chat in the comments! What are your experiences with ChatGPT in education?
