One Year at BioScript

Earlier this month, while on a hike around Moraine Lake in the Canadian Rockies, I realized I’d hit my first anniversary at BioScript. I wasn’t playing hooky – I was taking a few days of vacation after attending a conference earlier in the week. I made sure to leave my brain in non-work mode for the remainder of my time in the Rockies (it really is a stunning part of Canada, and I hadn’t been there in many years) but on the flight home my brain played a highlight reel of the last twelve months of work. It’s been a fun year.
I left Arterra at the end of August last year and took five weeks off before starting at BioScript. That was my first good move…I really needed that time off. I hit the ground refreshed and ready to go, and good thing too – there was no shortage of stuff to jump into. What helped was the clearest onboarding I can ever remember when joining a company. I’d also gotten a very thorough backgrounder from my CEO, who had herself just joined six months earlier.
So, as I did in the series I wrote 500 days into my tenure at Arterra, I’ll be posting over the coming few weeks about what’s similar, what’s different, and what I love about it. As in previous series, I’ll also talk about the important role coffee has played in my past year. (And, lest you think wine has stopped playing a big part in my life since leaving Arterra, it hasn’t – after several months of study, a hand-cramping exam, and ten nerve-wracking weeks of waiting, I found out shortly before going to the Rockies that I had passed my WSET level 3 course.)

4 周I’m not surprised that the Rockies, especially near Canmore brought reflection and understanding. My favourite part of the world! I look forward to reading more.
