One year in Australia ????
Today marks one year since my arrival in this beautiful country.
10 key learnings since this new journey.
1.Be grateful.
Be grateful for what is achieved so far no matter how small or big win it is.
2. Don’t stress yourself out with things you cannot control or change.
Things like bushfires and pandemic aren’t under our control; accept the reality and learn to adjust yourself even in chaotic times.
3. Change is the only constant.
One needs to learn new things and be ready for change. Be it a lifestyle, culture, weather, technology, job market, people; adaptability is key and inevitable.
4. You cannot make everyone happy.
Learn to say NO to certain things, speak up for what you believe is right, and learn to identify gaslighting tactics from others.
5. Be proactive.
This is always helpful in job hunt or any task at hand. If you aren’t proactive, there’s a chance to miss an opportunity; there is a possibility to not meet the personal and professional objective if one is not.
6. Adopt “Agile methodology” in your daily life.
Plan your day with priorities ( be it about your work or personal obligations or any other urgency )
Accept the fact that you’re human and not a machine. Certain things are not achieved at times due to unforeseen factors or external dependency. Don’t feel guilty. Accept it, sleep well and start a new day with positivity and fresh set of goals.
7. Be kind and help others with your capacity.
It is always good to help friends/relatives/acquaintance but considering your capacity, your own obligations and priorities. Obviously, one should understand sense of emergency and urgency while offering help. Moreover, make sure someone isn’t taking you granted in the whole process.
8. Be independent.
It is always good to seek some help from friends/relatives but be very mindful and respect their time/energy/priorities. Being independent will be helpful in long run and will give you sense of contentment. Take ownership of your life and your own health/happiness/wellbeing.
9. Never miss an opportunity to enjoy mother nature’s beauty.
Go for early morning walk to get some fresh air. Whenever possible travel to beaches, rivers, mountains and other natural habitats.
10. Humans are vulnerable.
We are wired to be vulnerable. Never consider it as a weakness however, do not let it take control of your life. It is ok to slow down a bit whenever required. It is alright to miss your loved ones. Never miss a chance to share a laugh and a glass of beer/cup of coffee ;)
