One Word.

Experience. Education. Mentorship. Networking. The aforementioned are things we are often told we need in order to advance, professionally. When you really think about it, one can’t truly argue to fact that these are true. However, there is one thing that is often overlooked when it comes to advancement and growth in our professional, and personal lives for that matter. What, you ask?

Expanding our vocabulary.

Many believe that learning new words is reserved for professional speakers and writers, but the reality is that everyone benefits from it, no matter our respective lines of work - or role within our personal lives. Expanding and deepening our vocabulary has many benefits. It’s less about finding a fancy word to use, and more about choosing the right word to use in the moment.

The ability to properly understand, think and speak, dictates personal and professional success. Great leaders, among many other things, are great communicators. Their communication drives results - from any position in the company and from any position in the family tree. When buying land the motto is, Location, Location, Location. When leading the motto is, Communication, Communication, Communication.

My leadership challenge for you: Dedicate time to learning one new word per day, for one month. Let’s start today!

Mine? A word often used by a leader I admire, my CEO.  “Gravitas”

What’s your word for today? Do share…
