The one who take sand convert it into gold

Remember your childhood days, have you ever played with sand, do you know small pieces of iron is part of the sand mixture, so are the employee who are part of the organization, they are like sand, their skills are hidden as iron content. How much ever the dumb the employee is, there are some skills that you can shape as a manager. You are like a powerful magnet, try to work with your people, nurture them and guide them in their activities. Work as coach to your people, when they see you as a role model that’s the time you start getting the iron content (skills) in them. As you start getting more iron mixture the people become more productive in the work. Remember when the people start to leave the organization it’s your magnet which has lost sheen. The magnet needs to be more powerful as you grow in the organization so you start attracting many other magnets which in-turn attracts iron contents.

As a manager look for the right attitude in the people don’t be very choosy in your interviews, you might not get all technical knowledge required for doing the job, but their attitude would tell them if they can/cannot handle the situation. Rather than concentrating technical know-how, try asking them practical and situational questions. When you have discussion with you employees do not bluntly point their mistakes, nobody in this world wants to hear bad about them, instead focus on telling them the area to improve and how you can help in it.

When you talk to your people in the meetings try to convey some analogies and relate it to real life situation or stories from ancient epics. When they do their work they kind of keep it in their mind and do their activities. A good example what I could say is a milk vendor who sells the cows milk at door step, she is able to happily run her business, the activity that that she does apart from selling milk is she puts rangoli in the house that she sells milk every week or gives spinach leaves free as token of love for getting milk from her. The story explains the value addition as part of their day to day work, which in turn help to get a big success. The improvement has to be kept in mind on every day activity that we do with our internal or external customers and applies to all levels of people in the organization.

This is my first post, tried to give my two cents. I hope everyone likes it.
