When one door closes and another one opens.....

So two and half weeks in and things are starting to heat up, outside with the glorious weather and also inside the One Legacy Recruitment office. Back to back bank holidays with sunshine.... who would have thought it hey?
We have all heard the saying "when one door closes another one opens", whether that be a relationship ending, a relocation from one city to another, or in this particular context leaving one job and moving on to another one. It rings very true in my mind, as I think back to some of the life-changing moments in my life to date, that I've had to leave something / someone / some place behind to gain something in return. Obviously, at the time you don't know this but when you look back retrospectively you always end up saying "if it wasn't for that this amazing thing wouldn't have happened" etc etc.
For those of you that have followed content from One Legacy Recruitment since it started up on May 7th 2019, you will have noticed that I have been proactively marketing a number of professionals with Finance, HR and Digital backgrounds to help drive some momentum into their job search and to ultimately create job opportunities for them. Most videos have opened up with "I would like to open some doors for....". The reason I chose that particular wording is because I strongly believe that as one door closes another one opens. The whole ethos behind One Legacy Recruitment is to be a pro-active recruitment partner. One that can make introductions for candidates, one that can go the extra mile for no immediate short-term gain, but with a view that solid trustworthy relationships will flourish between us and our candidates. We hope that in more cases than not, we will secure you your next role, but this can't always be possible, but what we will have done is position you in the right way and with the right manner in the market to maximise your job opportunities.
This week, I met a candidate that has had an exemplary career and in their most recent role, despite blood, sweat and tears to make things work, things just haven't gone the way the business would have liked and they now find themselves immediately available. This person had a lot of heart, a lot of character, and a lot of skills, and there would be a number of business owners out their willing to snap their hands off for that kind of drive and ambition to join their business at the helm of finance. For that very reason, I made it my mission to set up as many informal coffee meetings, phone conversations with various people from my network in order to increase this candidate's chances of securing a new challenge sooner rather than later. We (me and the candidate, as I feel it's a two way thing) achieved what we set out to do at the outset. The introduction has been made via a Corporate Finance Boutique with various end clients, so in essence "a door has been opened" for this candidate to show what they are capable of and hopefully a new challenge will present itself in the very near future.
Pro-activity in recruitment is important, not just from your recruitment agent but also from you guys as the candidates. It's a competitive market out there and you need to be using the tools that you have to the best of your ability and your recruitment partners should be guiding you in the right direction with that.
