No one wants to date the guy or girl who’s for everyone

I Help Recruitment and Search Firm Owners make more placements, for the right fee, with less work and fewer headaches
No one wants to date the guy or girl who’s for everyone.
And as a recruiter, you shouldn’t want job orders that are for everyone either.
If a job is easy for you to win, it’s easy for other recruiters to win too—which means multiple recruiters scrambling to fill the same role.
And that’s exactly why it’s so hard to place.
When a client hands the same job to several agencies, they think they’re increasing their chances of success. In reality, they’re making it harder for everyone involved—especially you.
You have no control. No commitment from the client. No guarantee of getting paid.
You’re just another recruiter in the race, rushing to submit candidates before someone else does. Even if you find the perfect match, another recruiter might have already sent them.
And then there’s the pricing pressure.
When multiple recruiters are working the same role, fees get squeezed. Clients know they hold the power and will happily take your hard work and use it to negotiate a better deal elsewhere.
Worse still, if you push back, there’s always another recruiter willing to take the work at a lower rate.
This is why the best recruiters refuse to play this game.
Instead of chasing contingency roles where they might never see a return on their effort, they secure retained or exclusive agreements.
They control the process.
They get paid for their expertise.
They actually have a real shot at filling the role.
At the Rock the Year Summit, I’ll be sharing exactly how to make this shift in my talk: "7 Unorthodox Secrets Leading Recruitment and Search Businesses Use to Win More Retained or Exclusive Clients—With Less Effort and Higher Fees"
I’ll show you how the best recruiters position themselves as trusted advisors—so clients don’t just give them jobs to work on, but pay them upfront to do it.
If you’re tired of working for free and want a better way to win clients and fill more roles on your terms, you won’t want to miss this.
Join me at Rock the Year, and I’ll show you how to change the way you sell—so you never have to compete in the race to the bottom again.
From 100% contingency to winning retainers with ease
Easter last year, one of the Recruitment/Search Business Owners we helped called me...
Obviously distraught and pissed off because he'd spent the past six weeks working on a bucket full of job orders, put his all into filling them but came up empty handed…
Either they got filled by another firm…
Or the client cancelled…
Changed their mind…
For one reason or another, they all fell through...?
And the vast majority of the time, they fell through for reasons outside his control…
He was sick and tired of putting all this work into delivering on an assignment and not getting paid…
Something needed to change…
He spoke to me about going down the retained route…
Actually getting paid upfront for the hours that he put into each assignment…
So we put a plan together, helped him with his business development, the sales process, even the delivery…
Now he wins retainers with ease and even gets his old traditionally contingency clients to pay him upfront when the vast majority of his competitors are still offering to work for fee…
And his clients are happy to do so because now he has the time to delivery a better service...?
I'm hosting a training later this month called "7 Unorthodox Secrets Leading Recruitment and Search Businesses Use to Win More Retained or Exclusive Clients—With Less Effort and Higher Fees" as part of the Rock The Year The Recruiting Growth Summit. For full details click here.
