The ONE virtue I embodied to create a life and business based on my truth WITHOUT working hard.

I moved back up to Nottingham by myself with none of my friends around.
Signed a 6 month agreement to rent a flat.
And embarked on my PhD in Biophysics.
It was a month in, and something didn't feel right.
I had spent 1 whole year applying for a PhD and finally got a paid position.
I just came from travelling S.E Asia and Australasia and had £0 in my bank account.
But it wasn't what I had imagined.
The thought of coming out a 28-year old with not much money scared me.
The work didn't excite me.
Conversations with people who were 4 years ahead of me didn't inspire me.
I was lost.
I lacked clarity on who I was and what I wanted.
I doubted myself and was caught up in my own head.
As time went on, I deeply knew it wasn't heading in the right direction.
Something needed to change.
I needed to come back to London.
Yet..thoughts of...
"What would people think?"
"What would I do as the next step?"
"Would they think I failed?"
Plagued my mind.
I had to put my ego aside and make a decision required courage.
And it turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever taken.

I quit the PhD, left Nottingham, headed back to London.
People didn't understand me.
They were questioning me.
And I had to let it all go and have faith in my truth.
Within a few weeks...I ended up getting a position that I wanted within a consulting firm which I would have gotten after 4 years of a PhD anyway.
And most PhDs I spoke to after say to me "I wish I did what you did!" Which astonished me ??
I've had multiple experiences like this over my journey over the last 10 years and it got me thinking...
Living courageously can be really hard at first yet…
Courage is the price of true leadership.
Leading your life. Leading your family. Leading your career. Leading your business.
Making decisions that's aligned with YOUR truth is what courage is.
Regardless of what others perceive.
Regardless of what society believes.
Regardless of the crazy negative thoughts.
It's the number ONE virtue the wise philosophers and now scientists agree on to be true.
But our life experience will show us this.
In my own personal experience, and from what I've seen working with multiple entrepreneurs, leaders in their fields, leaders at home - this is what leads to long lasting happiness and fulfilment AND external success.
It has been the one virtue I’ve seen that when embodied, leads to personal and professional greatness.
One question to reflect on, which continues to help me on this journey:
When are you going to stop living like you're going to live forever?!
Peace and love ??
