Be the One on the Trampoline -Have Fun!

The Trampoline has always fascinated me. It is fun to watch kids jumping and having fun. There could potentially be a lesson for all of us if you carefully observe kids playing and having fun.

What if a leader and his team are on trampoline, just like those kids. Who, according to you, will set the rhythm, energy, and motion so that everyone can bounce well? Imagine a trampoline with multiple people jumping on it. Each person represents a member of your team or organization, striving to achieve their goals and aspirations.

As a leader, you have a choice: you can either stand on the sidelines and watch, or you can actively participate in the process by being the one on the trampoline.

Here are five lessons that you can take from trampoline:

  1. Set The Tone: Just as the person on the trampoline sets the initial bounce, a leader sets the tone for their team. A Leader's attitude and demeanor influence the morale and motivation of those around him.
  2. Provide Momentum: Just like trampoline, leader provides momentum by inspiring actions and driving progress. Articulate a clear vision and set those goals.
  3. Offer Support: Trampoline provides support and propulsion. Leaders offer guidance and assistance to their team members. Be it resources, coaching or simply lending an empathetic ear.
  4. Foster Collaboration: On a trampoline, synchronized bouncing creates a greater sense of momentum and energy. Likewise, leaders must foster collaboration by encouraging teamwork and leveraging diverse strengths of the team to create a synchronized bounce.
  5. Embrace Adaptability: Trampoline bouncing requires constant adjustment to maintain balance and rhythm. Leaders must embrace adaptability in the face of change and uncertainty to maintain balance and pace.

Most importantly, being the one on the trampoline also requires trust and vulnerability. You, as a leader, must be willing to let go of control and allow others to take the lead, knowing that they have the skills and capabilities to succeed. You become a facilitator of growth, guiding, and cheering on your team members as they bounce to new heights.
