Leon Keir

Leon Keir is a highly accomplished professional with a passion for adult education and empowering individuals to reach their full potential. With over a decade of experience, Leon has made significant contributions to the adult education space since 2012.

With eight years spent as a vocational trainer and assessor, his dedication to providing high-quality training and assessment services has earned him a reputation as a trusted and reliable professional in the industry. Recognising the unique challenges faced by professional athletes transitioning from sport to the workforce, Leon founded One Wellbeing alongside business partner Chris Lawrence. As the Director and owner of this organisation, he has been instrumental in supporting athletes with education and resources that facilitate a seamless transition into employment. In addition to his role at One Wellbeing, Leon serves as the CEO and owner of One Training (RTO: 45692) alongside business partner Chris Lawrence. He and Chris also co-published “empowering elite athlete education” in the International journal of sport and society.

With his vast experience, entrepreneurial spirit, and unwavering commitment, Leon continues to make a significant difference in the lives of those he serves.

Joe Williams

Since his retirement from professional sports, Joe has devoted himself to working within the community across different areas for over 15 years. With a particular focus on mental health and well-being, Joe has utilised his own experiences to support and empower individuals facing challenges similar to those he encountered during his transition from professional sports.?

Through motivational speaking engagements Joe shares his personal journey of resilience, highlighting the importance of mental well-being and providing practical tools for overcoming adversity. In addition to his work in mental health advocacy, Joe has actively engaged in community initiatives and programs. Recognising the unique needs of different communities, he has collaborated with organisations to deliver culturally sensitive and tailored services. From addressing mental health issues specific to Indigenous communities to tackling broader societal challenges, Joe's commitment to community work spans a diverse range of topics.

Joe's dedication to making a lasting difference has also been reflected in his written works. His book, "Defying the Enemy Within," not only chronicles his own struggles and triumphs but serves as a source of inspiration and guidance for individuals seeking personal growth and healing

Shakiah Tungai

Born and raised in Wollongong, NSW, Shakiah Tungai has embarked on a remarkable journey that’s taken her from local initiatives to professional leagues. After leaving high school in 2016, Shakiah embarked on a traineeship in indigenous actiology with the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS), where she spent six months honing her skills and contributing to important infrastructure projects. Following this, she joined the Green Army, dedicating twelve months to horticulture and supporting bush regeneration efforts. Her time with the Green Army allowed her to make a positive impact on the environment while cultivating her passion for nature and conservation.

Following this and facing a period of unemployment, Shakiah received invaluable support from Warrigal Employment, a Job Active employment services provider. During this time, she seized the opportunity to enhance her skills and completed a range of qualifications including White Card, First Aid, Agriculture and Horticulture Management Skillset, Certificate III in Business, and Certificate III in Hospitality, just to name a few.?

In 2018, Shakiah signed a 3 year contract with the St George Illawarra Dragons for the NRLW. In addition to her successful stint in the NRLW, Shakiah decided to explore new horizons and joined Santana Stud Welding as a structural decking labourer. Embracing a full-time role, she demonstrated her adaptability and work ethic in a different industry.

In 2021, Shakiah faced personal challenges and took a break from playing in the NRLW for twelve months. Despite the temporary setback, she remained resilient and focused on her personal well-being and growth. Determined to continue her career in the NRLW, Shakiah relocated and signed with the Brisbane Broncos in 2022, and with the Canberra Raiders in 2023.

Throughout her life Shakiah has demonstrated incredible resilience, adaptability, and a drive for personal and professional growth. Her unwavering commitment to her goals, combined with her exceptional talent, has propelled her forward making her an inspiration to aspiring athletes and individuals seeking to overcome challenges.

Blake Cohen

Blake developed a love for sports at a young age, fuelling his interest in human movement and physiology. He completed his Bachelor of Human Sciences with a Major in Human Movement at Macquarie University, before going on to excel in his Master of Physiotherapy at the University of Technology Sydney.

After completing his studies, Blake began his career at one of Sydney's largest private hospitals, where he gained valuable experience working in various wards, including ICU, Orthopaedic, Neuro, and General Medical. Seeking to broaden his scope of practice, he transitioned to aged care and community care physiotherapy, where he further honed his skills in providing personalised and holistic care to individuals in need.

In February 2022, Blake embarked on a new chapter in his career, joining One Wellbeing and One Training. As the Athlete Engagement Manager for One Wellbeing, he worked closely with Australian sporting codes and clubs, assisting athletes in optimising their education and overall wellbeing. He was also the Student Support Manager for One Training, actively contributing to the VET team's operations and supporting students in their educational journey.

Chris Lawrence

Chris Lawrence is a former professional Rugby League player who played 253 games for the Wests Tigers and 6 Test Matches for Australia. Chris has always had a passion for learning and development which led him to continue to engage in lifelong learning throughout his Rugby League career through university degrees, vocational training and various short courses.

As a result, he co-founded One Wellbeing with business partner and long time friend Leon Keir to assist in providing freedom in life after professional sport through education and mentoring.

One Training was then founded as a partner company to One Wellbeing, it’s aim to empower students to reach new heights through its tailored approach to learning. Both Chris and Leon aim to support students in adopting a mindset of continual growth and learning so they can build the confidence they require to achieve their personal and professional goals.

Chris has many other significant achievements outside his business and NRL career, including completing his Bachelor of Commerce (Sports Administration), Certificate III and IV in Fitness, as well as being an NRL Vocational Education Ambassador. He also co-published “empowering elite athlete education” in the International journal of sport and society alongside Leon Keir.
