The ONE tip that helps you win the interview

The ONE tip that helps you win the interview

Regardless of whether you are having a face-to-face interview, a phone interview, or a Skype interview, practice some interview questions out loud and video your answers on your laptop, tablet, or smartphone.

This one tip, more than anything else, enables you to become more effective in both your verbal delivery AND your body language (which is 80% of communication).

And even if it is a phone interview, if your body language is stronger, your verbal will translate better over the phone.

It is easy to "think" the answers to interview questions in your head. It is not so easy when you begin to verbalize them. What seems clear in your head (because we can think so much faster than we speak) becomes long, drawn out, rambling, and often confusing when spoken.

Example: I was role-playing with a candidate recently. I asked them the infamous "tell me about yourself" question.

Their answer was a long rambling 7-minute answer that was just awful.

The candidate's comment, "Wow, it sounded so much better in my head."

Practice out-loud and video yourself!
