No one thinks this in the end
Two standards for taking action:
The first standard is the understanding of the immutable truth that taking action is the only thing that bridges the gap between intentions and a desired outcome. Thinking and pondering about what you will do (but haven’t) will not help your cause.?
Deciding to be a runner doesn’t make you a runner.?
Expressing your vision and full intent of becoming a runner to others does not make you a runner.?
You become a runner when you throw on some shoes and finally run.?
The second standard is the expectations we hold for the quality of our work. If the standards are too high, if a beginning runner expects to have the pace of an athlete, they’ll probably never start.?
The rule of thumb is simple: bring the bar as low as you need to so that it’s easy to start. Our first attempts are almost never going to be our best and that’s okay.?
Realizing that you can’t meet an unrealistic expectation of greatness out the gate and using this as a reason to never start in the one life you get is an absurd reason to not start.
Recondition yourself to not view thought or discussion as progress; instead exclusively reward doing.?
Not everything will pan out and that’s totally fine.?
No one on their deathbed is thinking, “I wish I took fewer shots.”?
