One Thing You Should Know This Week

Last week I wrote to you about September being National Preparedness Month—a time to prepare for potential disasters and emergencies. While I received positive feedback, I’m not sure the message was received clearly enough.
This week, I challenge you to proactively think through "what if" scenarios for your business by answering the following 10 questions and writing your responses in an Emergency Response Playbook.
1. What if you or a key employee becomes disabled for an extended period?
Who will run the business and how will you pay the bills?
2. What if your office or facility is damaged or destroyed? Do you have
adequate insurance and a backup operation plan?
3. What if your computer crashes? Do you backup your data securely
to the cloud?
4. What if you unexpectedly lose a major client? How will you replace the lost
revenue?
5. What if a key employee suddenly resigns? How quickly can you find a
replacement?
6. What if you're sued? Are you prepared legally and financially to handle a
lawsuit while running your business?

7. What if a major supplier fails? Do you have alternate supply channels?
8. What if your website or e-commerce platform is compromised? What is
your recovery plan?
9. What if you need to rapidly scale up to meet growing demand? Do you
have systems and financing in place?
10. What if you must temporarily close your facility? Can you work remotely?
Regularly review your Emergency Response Playbook and update it as your business evolves. Sound preparation can help you and your company survive when disaster strikes.
Wishing you and your business success and safety,
