The One Thing That Will Have You Being Left Behind In Business

Yesterday I went on my usual morning walk.

Every morning I take the same track.

Past the horses.

And I always say good morning to them. Out loud, just in case they can understand me ;-)

I was chatting away to the horses as I walked down the fence line thinking “this ground is a bit soggy”

For those that didn’t know, we’ve had a hella lot of rain in Sydney.

A couple more steps, and my shoes were fully submersed, and I’m in water up to the bottom of my calves.

You know that moment where you’re thinking, which way do I go?

Well that was me. Absolutely frozen in my tracks.

Surrounded by water, and praying there was no creepy crawly things under the water about to attack me.

If I had have been paying more attention, I could have walked on the road and avoided wet sneakers.

**gross, I hate walking in wet shoes**

If I had have been walking that track for the first time, I probably would have noticed that there was a massive puddle the size of a huge dam, right in my way.

I talk with people every day, who are having this dilemma in their business.

They’re doing the same thing day in, and day out, and shit isn’t working.

They're frozen in their tracks.

They continue to do the very things that aren’t bringing them the outcomes they want.

They’re blinded by habit.

A few years back I worked with a struggling business by helping them out with their marketing for one month for free.

The deal was, at the end of the month, if they saw value in my work that they would hire me.

Anyways, this business was using outdated marketing methods, because that’s what had worked for them back in the day.

So I went about putting together a campaign for the month integrating a mixture of email, social media and point of sale, to create some buzz.

And buzz is exactly what it created.

This business went on the do THEIR BEST MONTH IN SALES EVER!

I was so excited to continue working with this business, and couldn’t believe what happened next.

“Thanks Sam, but we’re going to continue doing what we’ve always done”

I'm so tired of people complaining about things not working in their business, and doing NOTHING about it.

Guess what? Things are ALWAYS going to change...

If you choose not to keep up, then you are CHOOSING to get left behind.

Just like I chose to walk a different way this morning.

Great story Samantha, it's funny how we can put in the effort for someone, they get results yet it doesn't get the linear outcome we expect...though I believe it comes back in other non-linear ways.
