The one thing great leaders do to inspire their team
Every leader has their own style. The way they do things. The way the lead people. The way they get things done. But there is one thing that’s common in all the leaders. And that one common thing is - they perspire to inspire!

It’s not easy being a leader. While it is a prevalent saying that some people are born leaders, but I am from the school of thought that - Leaders aren’t born, they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work.
If you want to be a great leader, you must be willing to sweat a lot in the field doing things that every great leader does. Here is a look at some of those things -
They never settle for less
What makes great leaders great is the fact that they don’t settle for less. If they did, they would not have been at the height of greatness where they are right now. After all, there are millions of others who are working in mediocrity. But there are only a few who choose to rise above this mediocrity and strive hard for greatness.
How do they do it? By constantly challenging their limits. For instance, when great leaders know they can do something in an hour, they’ll challenge their brain to accomplish the same task in less than an hour - fifty minutes maybe.
Not just at their personal level, but you will always find them inspiring team members to strive for excellence. To never settle for less is a habit that great leaders practice, and inspire others to practice as well! And that’s what makes them great.
They don’t take shortcuts
In the hurry to become successful at once, leaders are often seen taking the easy way out. But great leaders do exactly the opposite. They are the first ones to run a mile in order to achieve something, rather than taking the bus to get there.
And only because they have put all the hard work to reach the state of success, they value it more than others. It is by battling through the constant struggles of hardship and failure do great leaders receive the medallion of success.
Ask any of the great leaders about the one secret they have for getting success, and more often than not they will tell you to focus on putting sincere efforts and striving for success rather than taking the shortcut.
They value people
You cannot build a great team by simply thinking about - it requires a lot of effort. And great leaders know this fact. The effort is not just physical effort to bring people together, but at the mental level as well.
To become a great leader, you need to be good (if not great) with people. Remember, it is the people working with you that form the team. If you are not good with them, and they don’t respect you, then who are you going to lead?
This is the reason why great leaders are never shy to put effort to understand and appreciate. They know that even a small pat on the back to the team member can go a long way to inspire them to strive for excellence. And that’s why they are never short of words of praise and encouragement in front of everyone when someone in the team does well.
They are open to feedback
I have been fortunate enough to meet a number of successful people throughout my career. And the one thing that has always attracted me in all of those people is that they are always open for feedback.
I have this friend of mine, who holds the chair as the CEO of a successful IT company in my city, and he regularly interacts with his team members asking them about how they think he’s doing as a leader and more. Getting inspired from him I started doing the same in my team. And to my surprise, where I thought I was doing great I got to know that I was in fact lacking in quite a lot of areas as a leader and a manager.
As a leader you expect your team to perform in a certain way. In the same manner, the team also holds some expectations from their leader. It’s the balance between the two that lays foundation for a strong team.
Poor leadership can cost your business a lot. So, it is high time to start inspiring your team and get the best out of them.
