Day 405: Simple and Profound
Yesterday I was further explaining how you can maximize your VIBE.
Speaking of my VIBE…
I’ve been off the booze for a while and discovered I’m much funnier with a couple of drinks in my belly.
So, after reading the negative effects of drinking and smoking…
I’ve decided to stop reading.
And if that’s not funny…
Two fish swim into a wall… one turns to the other and says, “Dam!”
In other news…
Courage doesn’t mean we’re not afraid.
It means we keep going anyway.
Anyhoo…
Your ONE COACHING THING Today Is:
‘Simple and Profound’
The last couple of days I’ve been talking about your VIBE and the importance of the right one.
In a nutshell, you need to carry yourself with a VIBE of being a higher-status individual.
For all the snowflakes reading and those sending me messages…
I’m not recommending arrogance in any way, shape, or form.
Let’s keep moving cause my VIBE tells me I should not justify the things I say :o)
I had a conversation with a heavyweight yesterday…
He’d be worth $100 million on his worst day.
I took some notes while we were talking about taking companies public.
Thought sharing some notes with you may be helpful.
1. The NEEDLE MOVER between those that enjoy massive business success and those that stay in the sandbox…
Is the ability and willingness to make hard decisions on things that will move them and their business forward.
The ‘average’ (95%) stays in ‘Maybeland’ (otherwise known as the sandbox).
The 5% can’t MOVE quickly enough when they see something that’ll move THEIR needle.
Warren Buffett says he makes 70% of the decision with 30% of the info.
*The mentor I now have… I chased, strategically, for well over a year asking if he’ll please accept my money and mentor me. Got a KILLER VIBE*
2. Successful people spend an enormous amount of time evaluating and judging themselves. Often to a fault.
The unsuccessful people spend their time evaluating and judging others.
Ironically… they fail to realize this makes them scared stiff to be evaluated and judged themselves.
Read that again.
Critical Point: Stop evaluating and judging…. help your clients stop evaluating and judging.
It’s a major source of unhappiness.
*More often than not their accusations (they don’t care about others, they’re money hungry, selfish, etc..) are confessions*
3. Business people will dogmatically, and consistently, justify their position as an indirect (accidental) way of self-selecting their level of success.
Same bank account, same business, same problems, same relationships for over a decade.
*Out with the old to make room for the new*
4. Spend time around people that THINK bigger than you and also people that have accomplished more than you.
These people will indirectly push you, elevate you and empower you.
Translation: Level Up by Osmosis.
The saying “when the student is willing the Master will appear” comes to mind. The reality is… Masters are showing up constantly but you’re NOT READY.
Certainly not chasing them down.
Help your clients GET READY so they stop missing it (See point 1).
A bonus thought is to push yourself to do what’s difficult.
My 7-year-old daughter and I go sea doing… we have one rule and she knows it before we go.
Me: ‘What’s our one sea doing rule, baby?”
My 7-year-old: ‘We have to jump in the water in the middle of the lake, Daddy.’
To be honest… it’s a little scary and it’s a LOT cold.
She has to push herself to do it… cause it’s HARD.
Don’t think she doesn’t cry etc… once in a while and beg me “not this time Daddy…
I promise to do it next time can we just go in, I’m cold.”
I’ll let you guess what my response is.
My opinion is that when you do what’s HARD consistently:
Hard becomes routine
Disorganized becomes organized
Impossible becomes possible
Unclear becomes clear
Now, go jump in the middle of a cold lake.
At a minimum… have a cold shower.
Bet you won’t.
Whimp.
You heard it here first.
