This one thing changed my life…E-9

In early 2021, I decided to role model selected A-Listers and pick up the best nuggets of their Lifestyle, Habits, Thinking etc. In other words, I was looking to decode the?“Coke Formula” of their success. Unlike the Coke Formula, which is hidden in the lab, The A-Lister’s success is open to the Public, and Podcasts. They have been more than vocal about this. Life is calling, it’s best to pick up from there.

The A-Listers

  • Bill Gates-He reads close to 50 Books in a year
  • Warren Buffet-He reads 600 pages daily.
  • Tim Ferris-He reads 3 to 4 books/week

So, I followed their “Reading Lists” and made mine.

The truth is, I don't read for self-improvement, that was the by-product, I read out of curiosity and interest and to keep myself busy. The best book is the one which makes you opine, Few books I swallow, a few I digest slowly, few I leave mid-way.

The method in Madness:-

I developed a reading habit during my PGEMP days at #SPJIMR.Thanks to the professors who pushed me hard. I just wanted to pass on the wisdom ahead. I use Kindle and paperback, depending on which option is economical. When I visit Delhi-I ensure to visit the local store, where I pick up books at Rs 100

One might wonder how?I read close to 38 Books in 2022, This does not include my Newspapers, Audio Books, Research Papers etc

It’s a simple formula broken down by the hour. In 2022, I travelled for 36 Days by Train, every Train journey gave me 6 Hrs of “Me Time” which was a total of 200 Hrs. An average book is 250 pages, which makes it 7000 Pages, my average reading speed is 30 pages/hr, which translates to 6K pages.?This is close to 25 Books, I preplan my reading list before I board the train. If you are hungry and you reach your hotel late, you are likely to order a “Pizza” and not “Dal Chawal”?A little preparation helps. Local Mumbai Train Journey, waiting period at receptions, hotel Stays etc add to the hrs available.

I ensure to read 30 Min a day, while I am home 15 Min during breakfast and 15 Min before sleeping, In this schedule, it’s a Book in 15 days on average translating to another 13 Books. The #choice I make is over TV and mindless surfing on my Mobile and unnecessary Whats app Groups, I deleted all such groups way back, anything which adds to my distractions is “NO” on my list.

Hi Vishal, what a great reading list you had. Thank you for including The First Minute and I’m glad it was helpful. Your list has inspired a few additions to my list of must reads for 2023.
