One-test wonder
There are two variations to the term one-test wonder. One is a player who played just one test match for their country. Another is someone who played brilliantly in one match and then faded away. The second definition is more apt. When we say 'one-hit-wonder', it seldom refers to someone who has had one hit and then stopped performing. It's usually someone who couldn't build on their initial success. The reasons for this are many. Some are marred by injury, some lose focus, and some couldn't cut it at the highest level.
The same applies to other things as well. Write one blog post and you can technically call yourself a blogger. Act in a play (even if your role is 20 seconds long) and you can call yourself an actor.
If you want to build a reputation or be in it for the long haul, you have to go beyond doing something just once.
