No One Succeeds Alone - The Power of a Mastermind Group

A common variable that most successful people have, is a mentor who has helped them achieve their success.

Unfortunately, most people don't realize that they could potentially achieve success much faster if they spent some time with people in their industry who are 10 or 20 years ahead of them. These people are called mentors, people who have already achieved what it is that you want to achieve.

In life, rarely does anyone ever succeed alone or is really self-made. Most people who are successful have had people or mentors who taught them, inspired them, motivated them, encouraged them or helped them along the way.

In his book “Think and Grow Rich“, Napoleon Hill described the Mastermind principle as, “The coordination of knowledge and effort between two or more people who work towards a definite purpose in a spirit of harmony…no two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind”, also known as, the Mastermind.

It's been over thirty years since I began my career as a real estate broker. Twenty-five of those years was spent in the real estate auction industry, which in my opinion is an exciting and lucrative niche that has very little competition.

I discovered my passion for real estate auctions by pure chance and ironically, it was at the lowest point in my career, maybe even of my life.

I've read that most people give up just when they're about to achieve success. They quit on the one-yard line. They give up at the last minute of the game, not realizing that they are just one foot from a winning touchdown.

Looking back, it scares me to think that could have been my fate had I not found my mentor or I should say my mentor found me. Ironically, his name was Rich and he took the time to mentor me and teach me the skills that led to my success, which in turn changed my life.

Another experience I had was with a mastermind group. About 9 years ago I had the desire to write a book, which felt like a daunting task. It sat unfinished for several years after I started writing it, until I joined a mastermind for aspiring authors.

The mastermind consisted of new and experienced authors. It was a group of like-minded people all with the same goal of finishing their books. To my amazement, I finished and published my book in record time shortly after joining the group. That’s the power of mentors and masterminds.

My message to anyone reading this article, if you find yourself struggling to succeed, or about to give up. If you want to take your business to the next level and don’t know how.

If you need help achieving a specific goal, whether it's to quit smoking, lose weight, or whatever it might be. Find a mentor or mastermind group and tap into the knowledge, experience and energy that they offer. Don't try to go it alone.    

In my spare time I became a real estate coach, wrote a book and started my own online real estate auctioneer school so that I could became a mentor and pay it forward. I also just recently started a Linkedin group. A mastermind for new and seasoned residential and commercial real estate agents.

The purpose of the group is to help real estate agents understand how to properly market and conduct a real estate auction and help them to earn an extra 5-6 figures in their real estate business in 2021 and beyond.

The goal is not for an agent to become a full-time real estate auctioneer. It’s simply to acquire the knowledge to be able to identify auction listing opportunities and develop the skills needed to offer auction marketing as part of their existing brokerage services.
