Want to finish the year stronger than ever?
—if you are in Business Development or Account Management and still wrapping up the year, how can you make the most of these final workdays?
One powerful way to end on a high note and leave a lasting impression with your prospects and clients is to send a thoughtful reconnection email or text.
These might be proposals that fell into the cracks, change in management or something that stopped them from moving forward in the sales process. Use this opportunity to update them of new information, the value you can bring and how you can help achieve their goals next year.
No pitches.
No asks.
A heartfelt message expressing your gratitude for them and your willingness to help.
Here’s a framework to follow:
Thank them for the opportunity to connect this year—whether or not you worked together, or even if they canceled the service. Show appreciation for their time and the chance to engage with them.
2. Be authentic and personal
If you know something specific about them—perhaps they mentioned plans for the holidays or a professional milestone—add that. Show you pay attention and value the relationship.
3. Set the stage for next year
Share that you’d love to reconnect in the New Year to explore ideas or opportunities that align with their future goals.
4. Remove pressure
Don’t ask for a response. Leave it open-ended. The goal isn’t to push but to remind them you’re there—ready to collaborate when the time is right.

Subject Line: "Wishing You a Wonderful Year Ahead"
Hi [Client Name],
As we approach the end of the year, I wanted to take a moment to reach out and thank you. It’s been great [getting to know you/working with you/learning about your goals], and I truly appreciate the time and trust you’ve shared with me this year.
While we didn’t move forward with the proposal this year, I was grateful for the time and effort you put into our conversations. Your insights were super helpful! and I’d love the chance to reconnect in the new year.
Looking ahead to 2025, I’d love to catch up when the timing feels right to explore ideas or opportunities that might better align with your goals.
Wishing you and your team a joyful holiday season and a successful year ahead.
Best regards,
[Your Name]
It’s a simple gesture, but one that can leave a lasting impression. Relationships are everything in sales—how we nurture them during quieter times matters just as much as what we do during active opportunities.
What’s your go-to strategy for ending the year on a high note?
I’d love to hear your thoughts!

2 个月You are right on the money with this article. I love, "Set the stage for next year." By slowing down and sending out thoughtful notes we can build relationships that last instead of just moving on to the next prospect. Thanks for the email template. Love it!
