One Simple Change Can Be Remarkably Rewarding
I no longer schedule client calls on Mondays. No ghostwriting or coaching calls.
This gives us three days to shift our location, which last week we did by driving to the Oregon coast and then up to Bellingham in Washington. This morning, I have a new "office" in a new town, which invigorates me and ultimately helps me produce better results for my clients.
In the coming weeks, my office will be in Vermont and then New York
(Even better, my normal office/home generates rental income while we wander.)
This single change—no calls on Monday—has produced remarkable rewards. We've hiked in Moab, relaxed by energy vortexes in Sedona, walked along the beach in Malibu, and met people all around the country.
When I first considered making this shift, my initial instinct was to reject it. What, I thought, was the point of having one more day to travel, only to still have to work four days in a new location? When our brains get stuck in the old ways, it can be hard at first to see all the new possibilities.
But right now, I'm looking at a bamboo grove out the window. Earlier this morning, I walked our dogs past a vegetable garden and a small pond with a dragon sculpture rising up from its waters. Change is energizing and provocative, and those are very good things for a creative person like me.

I'm not suggesting that you need to take one extra day off a week, although you might.
I'm suggesting that one simple change might have larger rewards than you imagine.
In fact, I bet that lots of people reading these words have already made such a change. If so, please share your experiences here, so that others can learn and be inspired.

2 年I love this idea. I have a horse at a barn behind my house, and have been telling myself I have to work on this or that to help me move ahead on some wildly important things. Thus I'd get in my one lesson a week and move on. About a month ago I hit a bottom and realized I was missing out on one of the best gifts God gave me. I started riding almost daily. Guess what...everything got better on the inside, and I feel so refreshed and eager for the challenges in front of me. My sweet friend, Atas (aka Powe Emblem), is a retired racehorse. He's beautiful and takes good care of his mom, most of the time anyway!

2 年Perfectly said! I agree with you that making an improvement — even a small one — can be remarkably rewarding.? Making just one simple change can have a big impact in our lives.? One small change can have a ripple effect that can improve our lives in unexpected ways. We don't have to make every single change overnight. It's all about starting somewhere and building momentum. Once we start changing our day-to-day habits and routines, we'll get better at making changes. A million thanks for sharing.
