Let me share a personal story. I was born in poverty and thought that education and DOING a lot was the way out.
When I graduated university and when into the work world I was shocked (perhaps naive) to realise all my co-workers in my department had the same first degree.
So I started a post-graduated program to stay ahead of the competition.
I always had an affinity for IT so I also sort certifications in that field.
Then one day I realised I was in this education/certification loop and I would be in this loop forever if I don't come off the roller coaster.?
Then I had a thought 'I don't want to DO this Work, I want to Manage the People Doing it'.
That little mindset shift was the start of my rapid ascendance to senior management at the age of 30.
I shifted from DOING To Thinking and Acting Strategically.
I had to 'unlearn'?many of the unhelpful thought patterns, beliefs, and behaviors?I relied on earlier in?my career.?
For the record, most of these behaviors were a MUST before?I become a leader.??
