One Seventeen Groundbreaking
The sun was shining at the celebratory groundbreaking of One Seventeen, the long-anticipated Brickhaus luxury townhome development on Lake Road and W. 117th St. A large crowd of supporters gathered to see the ceremonial shovels go into the dirt. Brief remarks were made by Developer, Andrew Brickman, Councilman, Matt Zone, and Chief of Regional Development for the City of Cleveland, Ed Rybka, standing in for Mayor Frank Jackson. Afterwards, guests were invited to a reception around the corner at the newly-renovated Twist Social Club on Clifton Blvd. With the lovely weather, tables were set up both inside and outdoors. Everyone enjoyed libations and catering from Landmark, the new restaurant next door to Twist, both of which are owned by Constantine Katsaros.
The eleven townhomes of One Seventeen are being built on the site of the former Fifth Church of Christ Scientist. The longtime landmark was beyond repair and had to be torn down. Dimit Architects designed the modern brownstones as an homage to the iconic structure, utilizing classic elements that reflect the style of the historic church, like arched windows and balconies with French doors.
The interiors, however, will be completely modern with high end finishes, an open floor plan, 10’ ceilings and attached two-car garage. Each townhome will have an option of 2 or 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and a spacious rooftop deck. Prices begin at $459,000. Five residences have already been sold.
