The one secret to leadership (that took me years to figure out)

When I tell others how I went from a struggling leader...
Someone who was rife with self-doubt, riddled with anxiety, and horrible at communicating with others...
To someone who found that inner confidence, cultivated his own inner peace, and connects with others on an authentic level, they often ask a great question:
What's the single biggest thing that changed??
(If you're not familiar with my story, which has lawsuits, assaults, substance abuse, and more in it, then?here's a video?with the gory details...)
So I thought about this question.?
What's the single biggest change that I went through??
After all, my transformation was a decade-plus in the making, consisting of earning my Masters in Spiritual Psychology, plus another Consciousness Health and Healing degree, meditation training, staying on an Ashram with monks, yoga retreats, and more.?
Then it came to me.?
The biggest shift for me - as a leader and as a person - came about as I got more comfortable with myself.
That's a big one, so let me explain.?
Before, I was living a life that I thought I SHOULD live.?
I worked so hard to fit in, be accepted, be liked.?
Everything that I said or did was what I thought would make me accepted by others.?
Back then, I'm not even sure I knew myself.?
Over those years, I took the time to change that - and not only get to know myself but also like and trust myself.?
See, when I was trying to be someone else, others picked up on that, and even though what I really wanted more than anything was to be liked and accepted, that worked against me.?
It was a turn-off to others.?
But when I really got to know, trust, and show my real self, then things started to change.?
I knew who I was and showed up as that person.
People liked and accepted me more...a whole lot more.?
And from a leadership standpoint, my team started to respect and trust me (as I began to trust myself...imagine that!)
That's this Authenticity people talk so much about...but so many people get it wrong.?
You don't BE or ACT authentic.?
It automatically comes about as you get to know and trust yourself more.?
When you do, then you become more Authentic.
And, as a leader, people trust you more.?
And when they trust you more, you earn their respect.

And when they respect you more, you earn their loyalty.
So if you're looking for that magic ingredient, that lever you need to push, to get yourself to that next level of influence and leadership, look inside.?
How's that relationship with yourself doing?
Do you LIKE that relationship?
Does it give you energy, power, and confidence??
Is there a large amount of trust?
That no matter what comes along, you got it covered?
That you truly believe in yourself??
If not, time to roll up your sleeves and get to work.?
And I wish there was a quick answer, that easy hack I could give you to get you there quickly.?
But this one, my friend, isn't so easy...but it is life-changing.?
Though what it can start with is giving yourself a break.?
Instead of focusing on all things you DON'T do perfectly, take a minute and remember what you HAVE done well over the last few days or a week.
(And, when you read that, if your first fleeting thought was, "well, I didn't do anything good this last week!" then that just goes to show you got some work to do!)
See, most, if not all, of us are wired for the negative.?
We need to switch that wiring and get us back on the positive track again.?
To answer your next question, YES it absolutely is possible to rewire yourself to take in that positive instead of being driven by the negative.?
The thing is I'm here with you on this journey.?
If you're open to it, you'll get, from me, stories, tools, tips, strategies, and a whole lot more to help you get to know, like, and trust yourself even more.?
And you'll also learn how to directly turn that into making you a better leader.?
In this together,?
Michael
