One Question to Rule Them All...?

What if there was ONE question you could ask that had the power to both liberate you and give you immense power to create?

One question, that when asked, magically shifted you and whoever you were asking it into a place of such agency that the conversation that followed always stood out from other conversations for the impact it had?

This isn't hyperbole. This is the fact of my life. Without meaning to - and in fact whilst having a distinct disinterest in there ever being any one thing that I 'hang my hat on' - one question has emerged in my life as the single question I ask persistently and which my entire life orbits around. Our clients tell me they can hear my voice in their head asking this question. I ask it of myself dozens of times every day.?

And each time I do, it moves me into a place where I am both absolutely and totally free and also filled with a sense of agency and possibility to effect change in the world.

There's a dark side to this question too. Because of how powerful it is, when asked by someone in a way where its power is not respected, it can hurt. Not just hurt, but brutalize.?

I don't ask this question of just anyone. To ask it outside of a relationship with a trust and understanding that our intention is to create something powerful together, there is the safety required to hold the question and its impact.?

Also, I don't recommend that anyone ask themselves this question. If a person is too far from their power to create, their asking this question of themselves will push them further into their shame and doubt.?

It can be used both to build and to bludgeon. This is why we are adamant that Creating Dialogue is not therapy. Creating Dialogue is a tool, a philosophy and a perspective for high-functioning and healthy individuals to generate at an even more fulfilling and more effective level in their world. As we say at the top of our courses page on our website; Creating Journeys are not for the faint-of-heart.

Again, if this sounds like hyperbole, I would share your suspicion. The idea that one question could hold that much power verges on silliness. I would have thought the same had I not looked back on the last 20 years of my life and found that at the core of every great advance of my life - health and fitness, my marriage, my parenting, my financial life, my businesses - was this one question being asked of myself over and over again, giving me insight, vitality, direction and power.
