The one question I get asked a lot is...

The one question I get asked a lot is:??

“Don’t you get bored delivering the same course over and over again?”??

I’ve been a full-time instructor for more than 15 years now, so the obvious answer would be a “No” or I probably wouldn’t still be doing it. Blindly repeating the same repertoire again and again gets tedious very quickly, and this has commonly been associated with conventional training deliveries.

Honestly, the answer really isn’t a simple “Yes” or “No”.?

I started out in IT sales, selling multifunction printers and my first question to a customer would always be: “What are you going to use it for?” My colleagues on the other hand would ask: “How much ppm do you want?”??

There’s a huge difference between mass producing colour brochures and printing out individual black and white receipts. As you can imagine, the best fitting solution for both cases would naturally be different too.?

It was always a shock to me that training would be nothing more than one slide after another of printer specs (that no one would ever remember) right the way down to the processor speed of individual devices. It’s even more shocking how many sessions are still like this, especially within Enterprise IT. It’s just slide after slide of how many processors it takes, how much RAM it holds… zzzzzzzzzz!?

I began telling my participants to cut right to the chase and ask: “What are you going to use it for?” Or, as it’s framed these days, speak to them about outcomes and experiences. In other words:??

“What goal are you trying to achieve with this solution?”??

And...?

“Are there any challenges I can help you overcome?”?

The great thing about joining EvoLearn was that I’d finally found a company that shared my philosophy about training delivery. We always focus on teaching people how to sell outcomes and experiences. The right solution for the business tends to follow along from there.?

It’s particularly rewarding to see attendees arrive with their arms folded, expecting another traditional (and boring) training session; only for those arms to open up as they lean forward, once we start delivering the EvoLearn way.??

So, back to the original question: “Do I get bored delivering the same course over and over again?”??

My answer is a “no” because I’m not actually delivering the same course over and over again.??

The models and techniques we use are tailored to suit a broad range of individual personas and training needs. Dealing with different groups of people, at different levels of experience, from different backgrounds, that ask different questions and engage differently in interactions; all make for a series of very interesting and varied sessions.?

Seeing people get encouraged to improve and reach for a higher level after experiencing an EvoLearn delivery and its methodologies is precisely what makes it fresh every time. Every session is a chance to meet new people on a new journey. In over 15 years, no two sessions have ever been the same.??

And that’s what I thrive on!?

Honest and straightforward feedback is a key part of the EvoLearn process. We also want to learn from our attendees – our sessions certainly aren’t a one-way street.??

When I see responses like:??

“Wow, I’d never thought of it like that before!”???

Or??

“Can I have a copy of that whiteboard? I want to use it straight away.”??

I know I’ve brought real value to others and that’s a feeling that NEVER gets old!?

The best feedback, for me at least, is when people say: “How soon can you come back and deliver this to the rest of the team?”??

And when I do return, I won’t be delivering the same course all over again, I’ll be starting a whole new journey with a whole new bunch of people.?
