The one power move we all have - That so few of us will actually play.

The one power move we all have - That so few of us will actually play.

I’ve been chatting with various people over the last few weeks about creating shift.

?

So many of us (me included) are feeling that we aren’t quite where we want to be.

?

There’s a sense of frustration, of exasperation, of asking ‘why not?’ and coming up blank…

?

The theme of every single one of these conversations is the same.

Which made me question – what is it that we need to do to create a breakthrough?

?

It boils down to how badly we want something.

?

Is it a dream?

Is it a nice to have?

Is it a non-essential?

?

Or

?

Is it a burning desire?

Is it your legacy?

Is it do or die?

?

You see, most of us just don’t want it badly enough.

?

Most of us fall into the former camp, over the latter.

?

Most of us, happily sleepwalking through life, ?

If something great happens – yey!

If not, I’m also happy where I am right now.

?

To make actual shift happen,

To create lasting change,

To have an impact,

?

You must WANT it more than you want the life you currently have. ?

?

Take me as an example:

?

I had a nice job, 20 years in the same industry, 15 years in the same company.

Good salary, good perks, nice people.

I could have happily stayed another 25+ years and had a retirement party.

I was comfortable in oh so many ways.

?

BUT, what I wanted MORE.

More Impact, More legacy, More shift.

And it’s the same for my clients:

?

Client A - ?A visionary, who wants to lead with heart and transform a company culture from the inside out. Who was ‘this’ close to burnout just a couple of months ago, now during the busiest time of her career has focussed on powerfully leading herself and being a role model for those in her team. Created work x life balance (probably saved her marriage) and is even more productive working less hours!

?

Client S – Once so overcome by Imposter Syndrome, feeling stuck and angry - she pulled herself out of the running for a promotion, who didn’t use her voice because she thought nothing would change. Is now, winning awards for her presentations and setting up a women’s inclusion network to support other women in her organisation to overcome their barriers to career success.

?

Client A – Who’d been frustrated for the best part of a year in a company that was no longer aligned to her values. In just 3 months, is happily settled in a fabulous new company, in a new role with a huge pay rise and incredible prospects for growth and development. Whose mindset has done a complete 180 shift, where she is happier, has better relationships with her family and can be truly present in the moment.

?

What do we all have in common?

?

We desired change so badly; we were willing to do something about it.

?

And that something? That power move?

Getting Uncomfortable.

?

Doing the hard things. Doing the things we don’t want to do.

Doing things, we haven’t done before.

Doing things that make us feel scared.

You have the same power move available to you.

?

Will you use it?

?

I hope that you do.

It depends on how badly you want to create change.

?

So next time, instead of complaining that you aren’t where you want to be,

Check in and ask – am I using my power move?

And if you need support to move you from frustrated to thriving again - I'm just a click or a DM away.... https://calendly.com/bethhocking/30min
