My feet have grown into the sand. Barnacles make up my new skin. Crabs bring me seashells to eat. I stare at each foaming crushing wave. Hoping she is riding on one toward me. On the horizon where sky meets the sea, Someone is waiving gently at me. It’s my love smiling and inviting me in. How can this be? She came back for me! The shore is behind me. The water is cold. I surge in her embrace. My beautiful mermaid
