One of the most Interesting Segments I Have Ever Produced for Inside Edition

I received an early phone call from New York to produce an interview for the evening show of Inside Edition on Wednesday night. I was told that I had to make sure it ran smoothly as the person to be interview has not been on TV before about this matter. As I showed up to the location, a very elegant 81 year old man asked me "Is this it?" , and I said yes, we are only going to ask you a few questions and guided him through the process.

I have produced several segments for Inside Edition, but this one of the most interesting ones I have ever experienced. With the team from New York on Facetime and my amazing crew in Florida, we began the production.

It was, Jack Mitnick, the Trump family accountant from the 1960s to 1996, who says Trump had nothing to do with the taxes he now claims to have made great—at least, where his own wallet is concerned.

The interview followed a damning report Saturday by The New York Times, which obtained part of Trump’s 1995 tax returns showing that the businessman declared a loss that year of more than $900 million, a loss that tax experts said Trump could have used to avoid paying income taxes for nearly 20 years.

Mitnick worked for Trump and his father, Fred Trump, for nearly 30 years, from the 1960s until 1996. He told “Inside Edition” that he recognized the tax returns because at the time, his computer couldn’t print a number as large as the loss Trump declared in his 1995 returns: $915,729,293. “The numbers had to be put in there with a typewriter,” he said.

I learned more from Mr. Mitnick about looking at it from a factual point of view than I could ever imagine. Thus, he is not only an accountant, but also an attorney, which makes him very calculating with his words.

I hope everybody gets to watch this interview and make your own conclusions, but please note that when Inside Edition asked Mitnick if he thought Trump was "brilliant" in his use of the tax system in 1996, Mitnick laughed: "No, I did all the tax preparation. He never saw the product until it was presented to him for signature." He wouldn't speculate who would have leaked the returns, saying only that all the copies were turned over to Trump, and he wouldn't say who he is voting for in November, saying only, "That's confidential."
