Business owners are always marketing. And now with most businesses being quarantined, we are relying on video to connect with prospects and clients.
Recently, a particular video caught my attention. The quality was good, The agenda was attractive and stated at the beginning of the video. The speakers were knowledgeable and effective presenters..
So what went wrong? One speaker gave us good tips and then invited us to his website. But I never got there. Why? Because he delivered his url fast and I couldn't understand him. I believe the website was his name. com. But I couldn't make out his name! I replayed the clip three times and still couldn't get it. I guess I won't be going to his website. His loss and mine, too.
Your call to action is the most important part of the message. If you want the audience to access your website, make it easy for them. Realize that on video, the audience can't ask you to repeat unless it's a live presentation. To leverage the power of video and direct people to your website practice these 4 tips:
- Speak slowly. Don't assume we know your name. Even if you were introduced in the beginning by the host, we won't remember it when it's your time to speak.
- Post your name in print. If the speaker's name was displayed on the video we could google the name and find the website.
- Spell it out. Website names have variations of spelling as do surnames. Certain high frequency consonants like /s/ and /f/ sound the same and can cause misspellings.
- Repeat it. The audience doesn't always have time to write it down.
Whenever I'm on a podcast or video presentation, here's how I give my website.
"My website is diresta.com That's D as in David I, R, E, S as in Sam T as in Thomas A. diresta.com"
Make it easy for the audience to hear, understand and remember your website and you'll get more traffic and more business.

5 年The lack of a Call to Action is such a common mistake and one people with something to sell frequently shy away from because they don't want to appear "salesy." So it's important to make the CTA sound like a benefit to the listener or reader. #calltoaction

5 年I tell a story of a small business owner who also didn't have a CTA (call to action). He invested so much money and lost the opportunity because a call to action wasn't present. a real shame!
