One Mistake All Poor People Make

One Thing Most Poor People Do

If you haven’t made the money that you want to make or if you’re struggling financially, it’s a very good possibility that you’re making this one mistake, because there’s one thing in particular, that most poor people or most people who are struggling financially do badly.

And there’s a simple way to fix this, and I’ll explain that for you too. However, it’s not a fast fix.

Meaning you don’t make money the same day you do this. But I’ve never met anybody who truly understood this topic and wasn’t wealthy.

In fact, this is a lesson that we have to keep reminding ourselves of at every level of wealth and at least every year, if not every quarter of our lives, otherwise we can fall backwards very fast.

And it’s this...

The one thing that poor people DON'T GET that rich people fully comprehend is that you need to spend money to make money.

And let me explain that deeper, because that’s a very old saying that almost everybody gets wrong. But the few who understand it are living a significantly better life than those who have heard it but got it wrong.

Here’s What It Means

At every stage of our lives, we need to do a deep evaluation of the things that we’re doing, the tasks that we are tackling every day, every week, or every month, so that if we did not have to do them personally, we could find something to do with that same block of time that would either make us more money or make us significantly happier.

I remember years ago that once a month I would sit in my office and pay all of my bills, both personal and business.

And it would take me about an hour, and it was stressful, and it made me unproductive for at least an hour BEFORE and an hour AFTER.

And by stressful, I mean that it distracted me from more important things because I was thinking about how I was going to pay bills and the fact that I didn’t have a ton of money, so paying those bills was freaking scary.

I did that for years, and then it got to the point where once a month was not good enough, and I had to do that every Friday of my life. Meaning, every Friday, I spent about an hour paying bills.

So, once a week, there was probably a three-hour gap in my productivity.

Meaning an hour before I was distracted because I didn’t want to do it, and then an hour to pay those bills, and then an hour afterword's where I was struggling to get back into a productive mindset.

And you might say, "But I saved a lot of money because I didn’t have to pay somebody to do that for me," and I would argue that point now, but not then, because back then I didn’t know what I know now about the value of those three hours in my life.

Then I Figured It Out

I was able to find things that I could do with those 3 hours that brought in significantly more money and moved me towards my bigger financial targets in life.

Some of those things were business-related, meaning I met with my team and brainstormed ways to grow the business.

But there were also times where I just used that time to clear away very important projects that had not yet been completed or maybe just read books and study ways to be more financially smart, more productive with my time, or a better leader in my organization.

And I’ll warn you that the first time you do this, it’s going to be a shitshow.

?You’re probably going to feel like the hour you spend deciding on all your tasks and the value of those tasks is a waste of your time. But slowly, you’re going to begin replacing some of the less productive tasks with tasks that make you far richer and happier.

And, like I said before, this is not a fast process, and if you begin doing this today, I’m not promising you’re going to make more money today, but you’ll probably become more productive in less than 30 days and begin making more money in less than 90 days, and then once you’re in the flow of doing this every quarter of your life, everything becomes better.

Not just the amount of money you have in the bank; not just your personal wealth; not just the amount of money you have saved for your kids and your grandkids.

Your happiness and fulfillment in life will improve as a result of your increased productivity.

And you’ll go to bed feeling like you’ve accomplished a lot instead of nervous about having so much more on your plate that you haven’t yet accomplished.

And you’ll have time to take care of yourself and those you love.

This Is One Of The Most Important Lessons I’ve Ever Learned

It’s sad that so many people don't understand this simple law of living a great life, but now that you understand it, I challenge you to put it into effect.

Meaning, list the things you’re doing every day, every week, or every month, that if you DID NOT have to do them personally (meaning if you found a way to pay someone else to do them for you), you could fill that same block of time with things that could make you more money or make you significantly happier. And then find a way to make that happen.
