This ONE Meeting Made Me MILLIONS (The Daily Huddle)

Why The Most Important Meeting in Your Business Is The Daily Huddle

Traditional business wisdom would make you think the most important meetings in your company are your quarterly or yearly planning meetings.

Well, based on my own experience of growing my business from zero to over $20MM in annual revenue, I can tell you that the most important meeting we have in our company is NONE of these meetings. It’s actually something much simpler and 10 times more important for maintaining long-term success in your business: the daily huddle.?

This short but effective meeting structure has allowed us to double or triple our revenues year over year, and I want to share with you how we do it and why it works.

The Importance of a Daily Huddle for Rapid Business Growth

Vern Harnish, the author of Scaling Up, says that companies that grow fast pulse fast. This means that companies that grow rapidly have a method of checking in with people rapidly throughout the day. They have a way of keeping their team members accountable and aligned with the company's goals.?

This is where the daily huddle comes in.

The goal of a daily huddle is to create high energy in the company. It's not about the details or the script. It's about building energy, getting people to smile, and sharing gratitudes about other members of the team. You want to create an environment where people feel unstoppable after these daily huddles, and you only have 7 to 15 minutes maximum to do it.

The Daily Huddle Structure

Here's the exact daily huddle structure that we use in our company:

Monday: 15 minutes

Tuesday: 7 minutes

Wednesday: 7 minutes

Thursday: 7 minutes

Friday: 15 minutes

Monday and Friday are longer because we like to include what is called motivational messages. We want people to feel energized about the week ahead on Mondays and excited about finishing the week strong on Fridays.

We include inspirational videos, stories, or messages that get people fired up and ready to tackle their tasks. We also want to make sure that people don't check out early on Fridays, so we create an environment where they want to stay in the office and accomplish their personal goals through the business.

Another critical component of the daily huddle is that it needs to start on time, and it has to start at a specific hour. We start ours every day at 8:58 a.m. Eastern. We expect everyone to be prompt and arrive at least 3 minutes early. If team members are late, we do write them up. Being on time is a standard of our business, and it needs to become a part of your culture as well.

On Tuesdays, we do departmental updates. We report on all the numbers and updates about leads coming into the business. On Wednesdays, we report on the numbers and updates regarding providing excellent service and client experience. On Thursdays, we have a team member spotlight, where we highlight an outstanding team member and recognize their contributions.

Why the Daily Huddle Works

The daily huddle works for several reasons. First, it creates alignment and accountability. Everyone knows what is expected of them, what the company goals are, and how they can contribute to achieving those goals. It also creates a sense of urgency and focus. People know what they need to do, and they can focus on getting it done.

Second, it creates a culture of high energy and positivity. The daily huddle is an opportunity to recognize team members, share successes, and build momentum. It creates an environment where people feel valued and appreciated, which leads to higher levels of engagement and productivity.

Finally, it creates a sense of community and connection. The daily huddle is an opportunity for team members to connect with each other and share their thoughts and ideas. It creates a sense of belonging and camaraderie, which is critical for a high-performing team.

As the CEO of SMB Team, I have seen firsthand how implementing a daily huddle has helped us to double (or triple) our revenues year over year, and how it has changed our entire culture as a business.?

By creating high energy in the company, getting people to smile, and sharing gratitudes about other members of the team, we have been able to build an unstoppable team that is excited to come to work every day.

So, what are you waiting for? Start implementing a daily huddle in your business today, and see the results for yourself. With consistency, persistence, and a commitment to building a high-energy team, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Good luck, and happy huddling!
