No one should spend any money or anything on likes or follows for their social media accounts,
Don't get me wrong I used to do it a few years ago,
For me having thousands of Instagram followers or countless likes on my Facebook posts meant the same as being famous,
And it worked at one point when social media algorithms would reward your big numbers with more big numbers, which in turn becomes more reachability.
But now things have drastically changed, Social Media Marketing has completely and utterly evolved,
They operate very differently on something called engagement,
It means it "reacts" to people reacting to your content marketing,
To better understand me I have this example did you know that if a person "dislikes" your video on youtube,
It is good for you, it is a lot better than nothing,
It means it has triggered social media engagement, it pushed a human being to react in some way to that piece of content, and it will reward you by pushing your stuff higher up the search ranks (SERP's), which translates to more reach for you.
The moment content creators for social media became aware of that, they started asking themselves a bunch of questions,
will my viewers react to my content, and if they do engage with it, what form will it take? a like ? a share ?..
Social Media is revolving currently around this word "Engagement"
Your goal is more followers=visibility?
Search for influencers' in your domain and engage with their posts with something valuable.
Want to expand your network with like-minded people, join a private group, and "engage".
The thing is to always be active and add something to the mix in a genuine, honest, and valuable way.
“Social media is not a media. The key is to listen, engage, and build relationships.”David Alston, author
Now that you know the secret, well it is not really a secret, it just that people still prioritize quantitive indicators, and you shouldn't do that, especially if you want to use social media for marketers.
Keep in mind there are types of engagement if, for example, a person shares your content you gain in visibility, but its the other person that will be getting "points" for the post.
But if he comments on your content, the algorithm will take it into consideration that a person took the time and wrote something, which means your digital content is good lets put it out for more people,
That's why some people will comment on their posts and even like the comments, theyre not narcissistic, but want to get the ball rolling.
Timing is also essential when you first post your content, social media management "spiders" will crawl it quickly in the first 5 to 20 min,
If you are getting reactions and engagement from people in that time, it puts it in front of more people, (liking your own post after a few minutes can give you a little boost)
Now that you know this, you can put more effort into producing content that will get "engagement" instead of likes, you can even seek people you think might be interested in your stuff and send it to them asking for feedback, people would be more than glad to help,
I hope that you got anything from this, and I ask for some engagement from you, especially if you have something to add or feedback.

4 年Engagement is how to genuinely grow via social media, Yassir, I couldn't agree more. Seeking out big numbers in the forms of likes and comments is the wrong approach. Seeking engagement, however, is the right approach. How do we do that? First, ENGAGE with other's content. Engage by giving of yourself, without conditions, and then others will engage with your content. Of course, you have to have valuable content, such as the article you're sharing here Yassir, to engage the audience. I clearly enjoy talking about this topic so I'll stop typing ??. Thank you for sharing Yassir! ????
