The one leadership lesson we don't talk about enough. ??

Let's talk about a leadership lesson that often gets overlooked.?As a leader, there’s no such thing as over-communication.?

Have an employee going above and beyond? Give them a shoutout without hesitation.

When you have tips or resources to coach a team member to do something better, do them the favor of letting them know.?

Too often, we assume our team can hear what we’re thinking.?Your team wants to hear from you.

Gallup found that engagement is highest among employees who have some form (face-to-face, phone or digital) of daily communication with their managers.

And it's no surprise that the most engaged team members feel as though their manager is invested in them as people, not just employees.

Now, let's put this into action. Try these 4 simple practices to build a solid culture of communication that enhances trust, collaboration, and performance:

  • Offer timely shoutouts?- what’s celebrated gets repeated.?(Psst...Did you know Leadr can now help with that?).?I like to call this "catching someone doing something right."?
  • Have at least one daily touchpoint with your team members.?Whether it's a "good morning, what can I do for you today" Slack, a pop by their desk to check in, or a 5-minute daily morning catch-up call, make it happen. The data tells us how far a little connection will go.
  • Have a repeated agenda item for positive?and?constructive feedback?to create a consistent space where employees know it’s coming each week and won’t feel blind-sighted.?
  • Ask for feedback yourself.?We learn more from watching than hearing. Lead by example to kickstart a more helpful dialogue with your team.

Until next time.
