One last time as the (Rtr) President

One last time as the (Rtr) President

"A Smooth sea never made a skilled sailor"

Good evening, Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors, friends, and family,

Thank you all for tuning in for the 3rd installation ceremony of the Rotaract club of NIBM, and I hope all of you are safe and sound in these crucial times. And I take pleasure in addressing all of you for the final time as the president of this energetic club which I've been privileged to bear upon the leadership for almost two long years. Speaking about the Rotaract club of NIBM, upon chartering, it was nothing but a group of friends who didn't have a clue on anything that needed to be done or how those things could be done. But when I look back now, after two years, I see nothing but the fantastic memories and the things we did while evolving not just as Rotaractors but also as undergraduates and as human beings. They say that a tough time reveals your true friends, and I could not agree more on that since I too found out some of the best people I've come across in my entire life.

Today, that bunch is ready to pass on the responsibilities of this beautiful club to the next set of leaders. The journey that we went on for the past two years did not come easily. But I can safely say we got through that thriving together. From organizing our very first project and glamorous performance at RCL to achieving Rotary International citation 2020-21, we dealt with hardship while adapting to the new normal. Regardless of the chances we had for physical projects, the team never failed to cater to new and exciting things in the best way possible. I can say nothing but that I am proud of each member of this club who lifted this club to the level it is today.

The Chartering Board of Directors missing a few

A very special thank should go out to all the Rotarians of the Rotary Club of Capital City, the management of NIBM,?including Dr. Mrs. Buddhima Subasinghe, and the Rotaract District Steering committee 2019-20, without whom chartering the Rotaract Club of NIBM would not have been possible.

Together, we completed more than 25 projects reaching beyond Colombo and outside Sri Lanka, promoting fellowship while serving humanity, making our badges of Rotaract worthwhile. I also like to thank IPDRR Rtn. Rtr. Kasun Sigera, our Guide Club coordinator Rtr. PP. Rasanjanee Polgampala, and the entire District Steering Committee, and the District Council 2020-21 for the immense support they have extended throughout the year.

Last but not least, I extend my sincere gratitude towards all the club members for completing this Rotaract year in style. And wish the very best to our successor President Rtr. Vishal Selvaraja, Secretary Rtr. Nathalie Hettiarachchi, and the entire board of directors for the year?2021-22 to take this club to the next level.

Passing to the next bunch

I will finish my speech with one piece of advice for all the Rotaractors; enjoy whatever you do no matter how small it may seem because you will learn something new from everything. And if you have found joy in everything, you will realize its value.

Thank you and Viva la Rotaract!

Together - Towards - Tomorrow
