This week, entrepreneur Theo Müller was interviewed by the NZZ. He made two interesting statements*:
“The most important contributor to success is innovation. You have to offer something that does not exist.”
He then offered advice, as how to get there:
“You can never sit back and relax as an entrepreneur. I was lucky in the beginning, that I had a hard working Managing Director: Gerhard Schützner. He came from Oetker and was sitting sometimes in his office in front of an empty desk and simply thought about things. He had always new ideas. And more importantly, he could push them through!”
Maybe one should add this to the job description of Senior Managers, Managing Directors and CEOs:
"Minimum of three years experience in sitting in front of an empty desk and think."
I cannot remember that I ever saw this anywhere, but I think it is absolutely crucial for anyone leading innovation! ?
