One Hundred Days of Sweetness
My family’s celebration yesterday featured tiramisu, a strawberry tart and dark chocolate. It was sweet recognition of our 100 days of social distancing.
Covid-19 stinks! My kids miss their friends. They miss athletics. They even miss school. (My wife and I very much miss our kids being in school.)
My family has it easy though. We are safe and healthy. Yet, there remains a long path ahead. There are no guarantees about effective treatment protocols or a vaccine. This is the reality we all share.
Why the celebration then? It is more than making it through 100 days. Rather, it is an expression of appreciation for the meaningful and sustained positives which have emerged from this crisis.
1. The pandemic has been good for business. Marketers are creative and resilient. As industry events and conferences shut down, there has been a pivot to digital demand generation. Thought leadership content creation and syndication generates leads, facilitates account-based marketing and reveals customer intelligence. These exceptional companies have engaged Strategic Communications Group (Strategic). I’m thankful for it.
2. We’ve gotten neighborly. A group of families who live in our cul-de-sac have social distanced together. What was once a passing hello has matured into lasting friendships. We laugh and share stories. We discuss and debate. We support each other.
3. Current events provide perspective. Each of us has come to appreciate the blessings and goodness, while investing the time to understand the experiences and views of others. We’re more empathetic and supportive.
