One Has Nothing To Do With the Other

"What did you do this weekend?"

"I moved a cart from the back of a McDonald's to the CVS three doors down."

The amount of money stores pays to replace carts is staggering. CVS barely has employees. They probably don't have someone who could pull the cart out of their own parking lot much less one that is out of sight on a neighboring lot.

It was not out of the way. Is this an example of "Be Kind?" That is a destination one will never reach. This is not me bragging on social media. As a matter of fact, I am not wonderful. I never joined The Good Men Project because I am not a good man.

Don't join any club that would have someone like me as a member. Moving this cart back to where it belonged reminded me of underemployment. I was underemployed so long it felt like accidental retirement.

It was retirement because nobody wanted me. I did not give up. When I had some resumes and cover letters out there I would pick up garbage along the street and act like that would send a message to the universe that I was a good candidate.

Karma doesn't exist. Not the way Americans perceive it. You can do good deeds all the time- and you should- to no avail. If there is work in front of you- supply and demand. It doesn't mean that someone, somewhere has a master list and you attained enough points to move to the next level.

Sometimes I think about dating. It's an interesting concept and I would like to see what it's like to be part of a couple. That doesn't mean anyone rises up. The Law of Attraction died a rather violent death in my life.

I'll describe that at the end of the year. What you put out there does not necessarily make a difference. Someone might notice. Even if they don't; you have the pride of a job well done. You cannot wait for someone else to do the work. If you see something, say something.

Thomas, this is great. I loved how you used the analogy of putting back the shopping cart to describe your story. Keep up the great work.
