One Great Tip: It’s OK To Swipe
It’s Monday morning (during normal times).
You’re at your desk all ready to plan out your week.
You take a look at your calendar…
A bunch of client meetings and a great new potential client meeting.
Yep, you have a pretty exciting week!
Until….
It hits you –
You’ve gotta write a blog post today. You need to send an email to promote your new course. You’re behind on social media.
Suddenly, your exciting week doesn’t feel so exciting anymore.
You dutifully open up a blank Word document, and…
Suddenly you need another cup of coffee, and this seems like a good time to call your mom, and now’s the perfect opportunity to make that doctor’s appointment you’ve been procrastinating about…
Anything to keep you away from that blank Word doc.
Here’s today’s tip:
Every time you see a piece of marketing content that moves you, save it in a “swipe file”.
My favorite copywriter, Jo Wiebe describes a swipe file this way:
“A swipe file is a collection of memorable content you can use for copywriting ideas.?“
Don’t worry, I’m not telling you to?copy?someone else’s work…that’s plagiarism.
But, having a collection of?ideas?right at your fingertips to use as models for your marketing makes it easier and faster to get the work done.
And, if you totally understand how your ideal clients and customers?think,?using this method is like pouring lighter fluid on your marketing.
Try it!
P.S. Want some great tips on how to understand how your ideal clients and customers?think? Make sure you’re subscribed.
P.P.S. I used an email in my swipe file to write this…it took me 20 minutes. Boom!
