One Global Logistics goes utility-scale in WA solar project win

One Global Logistics (OGL) has been awarded its first utility-sized solar farm project in Western Australia for Pacific Energy’s Tropicana gold mine power station project, 330km northeast of Kalgoorlie.

OGL was selected to provide end-to-end shipping, customs clearance, container unpacking, storage/materials management, and delivery to site of Tracker Array & PV Modules equalling 107 x 40-foot high cube containers, 2 X BESS shipper own containers, and 2 x PCU inverter stations from Fremantle Port.

OGL’s job will require diligent planning for road and site conditions in such a remote location.

Pacific Energy was awarded the contract to integrate 62 MW of clean energy into its existing 54 MW gas-fired power system at the Tropicana gold mine, owned by AngloGold Ashanti Australia Ltd (70% and manager) and Regis Resources Ltd (30%).

The expansion will incorporate four 6 MW wind turbines, a 24 MW solar farm, and a 14 MW battery storage system (BESS).?

Pacific Energy said that when completed the 116 MW power station will be the largest off-grid hybrid investment in its portfolio, and, at the time of contract, the largest off-grid gas-wind-solar-battery storage facility in the Australian resources sector.

Perth Manager, Frazer Dickson, said the contract win for Tropicana was the result of diligent work from both OGL’s WA team and the national leadership group. “We identified WA as a key growth market for OGL’s operations and worked extremely hard to put together an attractive bid and secure the Tropicana project.”

On the other side of the country, OGL was awarded a contract with Yes Group for its 6.8 MW Barnawartha Solar Farm in northern Victoria.

OGL will manage ocean freight, customs clearance, container unpacking, materials management, QA of the materials, and delivery to site of the tracker system, modules, and inverter station.?

Barnawartha is OGL’s fifth project for Yes Group.

One Global Logistics is an international and domestic freight forwarding enterprise and a third-party logistics (3PL) provider. OGL is headquartered in Brisbane and operates in Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, Adelaide and Toowoomba.
