One Ghanaian, 5 others arrested in Turkiye over $1 billion counterfeit money.

Turkish security forces seized $1 billion of counterfeit money in Istanbul and arrested six people involved in the operation, including one Ghanaian and three Swedish nationals, the governor's office said on Friday.

Gendarmerie forces tracked the suspects to a storage space in Istanbul's Kagithane district, where they seized the fake $100 bills meant to be sent to African countries, the office said.

The suspects' homes were searched and their cash and jewellery confiscated. The Swedish and Ghanaian consulates were notified.

The counterfeit haul was the largest in Turkiye's history, the governor's office said.

Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with Bosphorus Expo held the World Cooperation Industries Forum, an International Business-to-Business meeting at Alisa Hotel North Ridge, Accra from Thursday, July 21 to Friday, July 2022.

The purpose of the event was to bring together Turkish manufacturers and exporters to meet their international counterparts in Ghana to strengthen trade cooperation in the process of exchanging knowledge, products, and technological transfer.

The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has struck a strategic relationship with Turkish Airlines.

?The imperative relationship ensured that two SWAG executive members, Messrs Kwabena Yeboah and Augustine Ohene Bampoe Brenya were in Istanbul for the grand finale of the UEFA Champions League between England’s Manchester City and Italy’s Inter Milan.

Spelling out the rationale behind the partnership, the General Manager of Turkish Airlines Ghana, Mr. Aytekin Serbest stressed the importance of Sports journalism in the broader context of Ghana as a passionate football nation.

“As the foremost Airline in Europe, we have a responsibility to aid Sports Journalists who we consider strategic partners. In this regard we feel committed partnering SWAG for the upcoming UEFA Champions League,” he said.

v?Turkish defense firm gets multimillion-dollar contract for African country's border, security needs.

A Turkish defense company has signed a multimillion-dollar contract with an African country to supply its border and internal security needs, reports Anadolu Agency.

Asisguard, which operates in the fields of armed drones, electro-optics, and vehicle modernization, signed a contract of some $36.5 million with the country, according to data obtained by Anadolu. The country's name was not given.

The project includes products for diagnosis/detection, command and control, and precautionary/intervention purposes.

For the project, the Turkish company, based in the capital Ankara, will perform system installation and integration activities with armed drones, surveillance, and diagnosis/detection camera systems.
