The One Essential of Prediction

The One Essential of Prediction

As an expert? in psychology, neuroscience and cognition I have been fascinated by the development of artificial intelligence and how it might help us make better choices and predictions. Having worked the last decade with a predictive analytics company IntualityAI it is now apparent that there is one key feature that must always be considered when trying to determine the future.

?Intuition is the essential part of choice and prediction.

?With the development of complex systems it is easy to be impressed, even overly impressed,? by the power of complex regression analysis of large amounts of data. Unfortunately, it is difficult, if not impossible at the moment, to get a clear picture of the working of the mind-body, which is our subconscious. It is subconscious precisely because it is so complex. There’s no way we could be aware of all the incredible cellular communication going on beneath our conscious surface.

?“Intuition is a very powerful thing, more powerful than intellect.” — Steve Jobs

?This amazing communication, happening between billions of cells every millisecond, not just across synapses but wirelessly and through quantum mechanisms, is the encyclopedia of us. It is the best reflection of our experience and our identity, expressed only though feelings and not simplified by language.

?Because of the apparent vagueness of ?feelings compared with well-articulated thought, it is easy to dismiss them as unimportant. But they have a foundation in our complete experience. Their vagueness is a function of complexity, not ?irrelevance.

?At IntualityAI we have found that adding intuition to large databases significantly improves prediction accuracy in numerous sectors.

?Because of this power, it is important to consider your feelings and try to determine what lies behind them. ?That won’t be easy but it is important to try to establish their origin, which will help in determining their importance.

?Do these feelings represent life-long sensations or are they more recent in origin?

?If you have them in the past did you engage them or dismiss them and with what consequences?

?Are these feelings related to any specific circumstances or seemingly more general in nature?

?Understanding these feelings will help you be more confident in paying attention to them.

?So, as Roxette sang many years ago, “Listen to your heart”.

?“Intuition is the whisper of the soul.” — Jiddu Krishnamurti

It is one of the faculties that I have endeavored to develop and use almost all of my life knowing that there was a capability for knowing without having learnt in the traditional way of learning. I have endeavored to develop and apply in my life and, very slowly, I am beginning to be in the position to apply it at will. Thanks. And, salute ??.
